Relay for Life - Battle of the Codes

On Saturday 17 October 2026 Mingara Rebels Softball participated in the first "Battle of the Codes” at MIngara Athletics Field as part of Relay for Life

This was a great opportunity to support Mingara Rebels Softball major sponsor Mingara Recreation Club.

Battle of the Codes – was a fun series of athletic challenges run by One by Mingara which commenced at 9.30pm and concluded around 10.30pm. A shout out to our fantastic athletes Liz F, Greg, Emma, Jade, Bella, Grace, Amanda, Gavin and our ring in Josh. We were a small but mighty group that took on Rugby, Soccer, Hockey, Basketball, and two surf life saving clubs in a fun filled battle, competing in a range of skills and challenges.

Although we didnt come away with the win this time, our team represented Mingara Softball with pride, great spirit and plenty of heart.

Well done team for getting involved and giving it your all and representing MIngara Rebels Softball. Its fantastic to see our softball community supporting great causes and getting involved beyond the diamond.

There were 4 events in the program, made up of:

100 metre sprint
Broad Jump
Max Push Ups
Sports Skills Test

Mingara Softball ran a Pop Up Tee test for the other club athletes, and in return our team had to try a skill test from their sport such as :
- Kick a soccer ball and hit the goal post
- Dribble a basketball for 100 metres
- Save someone using the surf life saving device
- Throw a football through a circle
- Hit a ball using hockey stick into a net.

All seemingly easy but in reality quite challenging.

This was a great opportunity to get involved in raising money for people impacted by cancer.
