Q&As from the session
Q: Can kids going into grade 6 participate in Carni?
A: Carni is designed for those going into years 7-10 in 2026. At this stage, we’re taking expressions of interest for Victorians who will be in Grade 6 in 2026. Email: carnivalenquiries@maccabi.com.au to register your interest
Q: Will Carnival provide transport to sports venues during the day?
A: We will look after transport required during the day (e.g. transport between sport venues), but parents will need to do drop off/pick up for the days (8.30/9am - 3/4pm - like school hours) and for the evening events. We encourage families to connect and help each other out.
Q: When will participants find out who their billet is?
A: Billeting information will be provided in January, with enough time to make contact beforehand.
Q: Does the registration fee include all meals?
A: Meals provided during Carnival activities are included (most lunches, snacks, and possibly some dinners). Host families/parents provide breakfasts, additional dinners, extra snacks, and Shabbat meals.
Q: Does the cost shown include the airfare?
A: Airfares are an additional cost - you can book on the team flight, or some parents prefer to book their own, use points, travel with the family etc. so they are not included
Q: Is there a cost for uniforms?
A: Yes, but states keep the uniform the same year to year to allow people to reuse, hand on to friends and family etc.
Q: Will there be security at events?
A: All security details will be coordinated with CSG. We follow their guidance regarding paid security, volunteers, and CSG presence at events.
Q: Can we request to be billeted with specific friends?
A: You can put in a request but it is not guaranteed. Billeting is determined based on a number of factors including religious observance, numbers from each state, age, gender etc.
Q: Are billets matched by sport?
A: Not necessarily, but we do try to match by sport where possible to make transport easier for host families.
Q: Can families organise their own billets?
A: Yes, but please put ensure that both participants put the request on their registration forms, or email your team managers if it is organised after registration.
Q: Can parents volunteer?
A: We’re looking for parent volunteers! Email: carnivalenquiries@maccabi.com.au
Q: Are sports first-come, first-served? What if too many kids choose one sport?
A: We’ll try to accommodate preferences. Some sports may have caps depending on numbers.
Q: Will kids be doing sport all day?
A: Yes — sport and other activities during the day, social events in the evenings.
Q: Is it compulsory to do three sports? What if my child only wants to play one?
A: Each sport runs twice during the week, so all participants will play three sports. This gives everyone the opportunity to play sports they love, or try new sports.
Q: Can you give us breakdown of the day
A: Sport and activities during the day, social activities at night, with no activities running on Shabbat.
