How to Register

When filling out registration details for the Development Squad, the sailor’s name and information should be entered into the registration form.

If, as a parent or guardian, you accidentally entered your own details instead of your child’s, please contact coaching@mbsc.com.au. We can correct this quickly as long as you provide:

• Your full name

• Your date of birth

• The profile you want changed

If the club updates the details to the correct profile, the Australian Sailing number and completed courses will be recorded under your child’s profile, not yours. This ensures that any sailing courses are correctly attributed to the sailor, not the parent.

Afternoon Transition to Racing Squad

We’re excited to kick off our Development Squad sessions this season! Along with our "Start Sailing Program." After last year's success we’re continuing a structured racing and skill development format in the mornings for our racing squad participants.

Sessions will run on Sunday mornings from 12th October - 22nd December 2025, 19th January - 5th April 2026

What to Expect:

• Start Sailing: Our junior development program is designed to instill fundamental sailing skills in children, ensuring they learn to navigate the waters with confidence. Boats. life jackets and all equipment is provided. 
• Structured Racing: Mornings will focus on skill development through racing, including boat performance optimization, reading the wind, and learning essential sailing rules.
• Ownership and Appreciation: We encourage sailors to transition into owning their boats, fostering a deeper connection to the sport.
• Afternoon Junior Racing: In addition, we are aiming to transition junior sailors into Flying Ants and junior afternoon racing over the summer. This exciting step will require a dedicated coach boat and a group of volunteer parents to help make it happen.If you're able to assist with this and would like your child to participate, please let me know!

Sunday Schedule:

• 8:30am: Racing Squad Arrival & Rigging. Boats must be ready by 9:00am.
• 9:00am: Squad Briefing with coaches.
• 9:15am: Race Briefing for Racing Squad. 
• Start Sailing Squad briefing and boat rigging.
• 9:30am: Racing Squad on-water session begins with skills training and 3 races.
• 11:15am: Conclusion of the on-water session, derigging, washing boats and packing up.
• 11:40am: Debrief & Presentations with coaches and awards.

We’re Looking for Volunteers to:

• Assist in Running the Canteen: Help needed from 8am to 11am.
• Support Boat Crew & Coaching: Assist with coaching, running starts and laying marks. RST courses available, If interested please email coaching@mbsc.com.au

Fees 2025/2026

Trial - try sailing for free at MBSC! Experience sailing at Mounts Bay Sailing Club with 3 free trail sessions. If you decide to continue after the trail we'll offer a discount off the development squad fee.

Development Program Fees - Full year $330 or $165 Per Term
