Published Wed 05 Aug 2020

As we hit the mid-point of this Winter season things are really starting to heat up at top end of the table. A draw in the 1st v 2nd clash and a first win of the season in the battle of winless has added an extra competitive dimension to this toughly contested season.

Hawks 14- 14 South Sydney Rabbi-Toes

Round 3's game of the round did not disappoint. With even odds in the market before game it would've been impossible to confidently predict a winner in this contest. The game swung like a pendulum back and forth with Sam Sack’s Rabbi(t)'s taking an early lead only for a Sarah Vanessa and KC Wronger inspired Hawks to launch an impressive comeback just after the half. The fate of the result of was all but determined in a moment where Sam Carling took a full field intercept only to be touched, millimetres from the line, by a flying and determined Adam Katz. The defensive effort all but sealed the stalemate result as both teams shared the points in a nail-biting 14-14 draw.

Bolts 24 - 8 YSNP

The Bolts have finally entered the winner's circle. After a shaky start to the season, the defending premiers showed glimpses of their former glory in a cohesive and polished performance against a spirited YSNP. Boosted by the return of Lauren Phillips, Bolts responded to an early try from former teammate Jono Moddel to challenge YSNP and get their title defence back on track. Special mention as well to Hannah Vasin who contributed significantly to Bolts' point difference bagging a total of 9 points!
