Summer Comp Wrap Up 2019/2020!

Published Thu 12 Mar 2020

On Sunday 8 March, 2020 the revamped Maccabi Summer Touch Football Competition came to a thrilling conclusion!

Under the new leadership of Adam Karras, Ollie Karras, Sarah Abelev and Dylan Jacobson the Maccabi Summer Touch Competition underwent a makeover in the Summer of 2019/2020, adorning a new club logo and welcoming a raft of new players and new teams. With fresh faces and club stalwarts combining to raise the calibre of the competition, this Summer season was fiercely contested week-to-week and lay witness to some incredibly impressive displays of touch football.

Ultimately it was Maccabi Touch Football regulars, Bolts Touch Football, who took out the top prize defeating newcomers, the Hawks, 9-5 in the Grand Final. Captained by Gabi Fransman and Jono Moddel, the Bolts capitalised on a fortuitous opportunity to play in Grand Final and just managed to come out on top against a very commendable Hawks team. Other teams of note this season were the Dr Driedel's who, in their first time playing in Maccabi, took out the Minor Premiership in an astounding undefeated regular season and Maccabi Rugby who finished as very admirable semi-finalists. Notable individual players were Casey Writer (Hawks) who finished as the competition top try scorer on 22 tries and season MVP Kat Jansen (Dr Driedel).
Special mention must also be made to Greg Levine and the Dream Machine who took out the inaugural 'Maccabi Touch Wooden Spoon' in a season which finished with them as deserving recipients of the 'Most Improved Team'.

Off the back of a very successful Summer campaign we are extremely excited to welcome everyone to play in the upcoming Maccabi Winter Touch Competition, starting on Saturdays in mid-April!
