School Daze are still on top thanks to consistent scores by both Kerri Schwartz and Howard Baram resulting in a 9-0 win over Schmootz. Their lead has been extended to 4.5 points over Rolling Stones who are now outright second with a one point margin over Beauty and the Beast who they played on Monday. Justin Kennedy had the highest score of 233 followed by Graeme Bogan with 222 and Harvey Sharpe a 214 and Ronnie Lang 206. Both Howard Silver and Dina Kremer had all three games more than 20 over average while Nathan Radzevivius had two games more than 40 over average. Rosie Costi had a 51 over average 192. The only team to score a maximum 10 points was More VBs with a win over Blue Heelers.
Phil Levy had all games over average when bowling alone against the Vacancy to record an 8-0 win. His best game was a 23 over average 178.
In a remarkable occurrence Haz & Ho (with Michael Horrowitz on his own) drew the first two games against Family Affair. The third game was won by FA by only 13 pins so it was a close encounter of the bowling kind! Final score was a 5-2 win to Family Affair.
With Beauty and the Beast and Rolling Stones both on equal points in second place it was always going to be a close game. With Dina bowling way over average and Harvey bowling a 193 and 214, each game was not decided until the 9th or 10 frame. Although losing two games, B&TB won the series by 10 pins. Ricky Kremer’s best was a 143 (+20). The Stones won 7-6.
Kerri’s 545 series (Best a 192) together with Howard Baram’s consistent games for School Daze sank Schmootz who had Harry Sussman bowling on his own. Harry’s game was nothing like the last two weeks where he led the Pres Cup table. Result was a 9-0 win to School Daze.
The best feature of Mean Machine’s game against Nubees was a fine 222 by Graeme Bogan for Nubees in game two. It was the only game Nubees won as all the other five games were under average whereas MM managed three to win games one and three. Final result was a 7-3 win to Mean Machine.
Howard Silver averaged 183 (168, 196, 185) for More VBs in their 10-2 win over Blue Heelers. With partner Peter Jablonka bowling above average games they won all three games by wide margins despite games of 177 (+28) by Michael Eisenstein and 179 (+23) by Naomi Baram for the Heelers.
It took a game for Tall and Small to get going over the absent Muhammad Alley.
After losing the first game they won the remaining two games with Reuben Solomon scoring a 153 (+29) and Judy Small getting above average games. Tall and Small won 7-0.
Raymond Meinrath was on his own for Oldies against the absent Manis Manis and ran out a winner by 6 pts to nil. Raymond’s best was a 43 over average game of 183.
Swannies started slowly against Ring of Fire with Rosie Costi’s 192 (+51) winning game one. With Justin’s 233 in game two and Ronnie’s 206 in game three it was enough to give Swannies a 6-3 win.
Watch & Learn were too good for Nathan and Roy in game one but games of 128 (+42) and 130 (+44) by Nathan for N&R and only average games by W&L tipped the balance in N&R’s favour. Final score was a 7-2 win to Nathan and Roy.
With Don’t be Confused absent, Deidre bowling on her own for Bowling Stones did well to win 9-0. Her best game was a30 over average 153.
