Maccabi Hakoah Seniors

After a very slow start to the season and not much training due to all the rain, we finally got a full round of football played last weekend. Many teams were affected by Covid but notwithstanding the Club had some good results.

Our Saturday division 1 side went down 1-2 to Dunbar but had 7 starting players out sick or injured so it was still a very good result. Our division 2 side had a remarkable comeback after going down 2-0 after 10 minutes against Redfern and then 3- 0 after half time they rallied and came back to 3-3 to gain their first point of the season. Goals were scored by Jake Besser 2, and Gilad Hersch 1.

On Sunday our Division 3 side moved into the top 4 with a solid win 5-2 against Coogee United. Goals were scored by Dom Citarella, Dean Savitt, Ollie Evans, Leo Lipman, and Alex Tofler.  Our division 1 side fought out a 3-3 draw with Uni of NSW. Goals were scored by Adam Goldberg, Marc Kacen and Ilan Kessler.

The biggest result for the weekend was from our O45 side winning 7 – 0 against Maroubra. Given this team were supposed to be in Division 2 but opted to stay in Division 1 they are performing very well and will be going to Israel together in July so it’s a good sign for them. Goals were scored by Rodney Rosmarin 3, Simon Palan 1, Mark Skurnik 1, Zac Marks 1, and David Hirst 1.
