LC12ftSSC is offering a "Try Skiff Sailing" opportunity as part of Lane Cove's Festival of the River on Sunday 15th November. It's open to both Club members wanting to experience the thrill of a skiff ride, or members of the community that would like to try this exhilarating pastime.

For the less adventurous, come out on a Club powerboat to see the Lane Cove River and action up close, or just take in the magnificent River scenery from our shaded overwater deck. We will have a liquor licence for the day so you can purchase drinks and snacks from our licensed canteen (alas no BYO alcohol on Club premises is permitted).
We are planning to have a range of sailing dinghies to take you out - from Sabots (for juniors 8+), Flying 11s (for teens), ILCAs (=Lasers) for experienced teens+, Pacers for new sailors & families, and Cherubs and 12ft Skiffs for the most adventourous (15yo+). Our powerboat fleet includes 5m & 7m RIBs and two 7m Arvors.
Those venturing out on the water will be required to wear appropriate safety gear (life jackets at a minimum) and be able to swim 50m unassisted - all necessary precautions in case of a capsize. The Club has plenty of life jackets for junior sailors; there are fewer available in adult sizes apart from on the powerboats, so they may need to be shared ashore, or borrow one from a friend.
Please register using the link at the top of the page to help us with planning.
There is no charge for participation, but onwater numbers are limited.
