Sailing at Lane Cove - from Sabots ... | .... through to 12ft Skiffs. See it all on Sat 2nd November! |
Located on the lower reaches of the Lane Cove River, at the end of Stuart Street Longueville, Lane Cove 12ft Sailing Skiff Club (LC12ftSSC) is a family friendly, not-for-profit Club operated exclusively by a large team of energetic sailors, their families and supporters. Sailing has been organised from Longueville Point since at least 1896/97, and we have operated from our location next to Longueville Wharf since 1918.
Today we have 200+ members, associates and supporters. The Club caters for all ages of Sailors, with our Learn to Sail Courses graduating over 80 new sailors annually. We sail five classes of boats - Sabots for our Junior Sailors (One-up or Two-up), Flying 11's, Cherubs, Lasers/ILCA (7, 6 and some 4.7 rigs), and our lead class the 12 ft Skiff.
Between September and April, racing is held on Saturday afternoons, with a fleet of up to 80 skiffs and dinghies competing on the Lane Cove River and Upper Harbour on any one day. Many of our sailors represent our club at interclub, state, national and international events.
Come down and experience the action. You’ll be treated to:
· A tour of all our sailing facilities at both Longueville Wharf and Woodford Bay
· Learn about our Learn to Sail program designed for kids from 8 to 16 years
· Find out about our Volunteer program where anyone can get involved in sailing & support activities on and off the water
· Watch the crews get their boats rigged for racing
· From 2pm, view the start from the deck of our 12 ft Skiffs, Cherubs, Flying 11’s and Laser/ILCA fleets. The Sabots will be just finishing their race too.
