Dear Life Members, Member Clubs and Members

State Team Manager

There is real excitement building around our 2024 State Team as it takes shape under the leadership and mentoring of State Coaches Amy and Jim.

To help drive the march to the nationals we have appointed a new State Team Manager, Simon Clements, releasing Heather back to supporting all our members through her Board role as Director.

Thank you Heather for all the work you have put in thus far, and supporting Simon as he transitions from Judo Dad (and Judoka) to being part of the Leadership Team that will get the best out of our athletes.

Simon’s calm enthusiasm, presence and leadership will be a good fit to support our State Coaches and players. He can be reached by email simclem01@hotmail.com, and in due course all the athletes, parents and carers will get to meet him.

EOI Appointed Directors – Gender Balance

For those women that feel they have the passion and experience to assist the Board as an appointed Director up until the next AGM we would like to hear from you.  EOI to email: secretary@judoSA.com.au

Kata

While the Shiai side of the State Team has captured our imaginations, the Kata component has not been forgotten as a legitimate part of Judo.

A State Team coach for Kata will be nominated, but on a pro-bono basis.

All things Kata will be discussed this weekend.

Adaptive

There will not be an adaptive coach appointed, as our adaptive athletes are being well supported by our State Coaches. Should there be further support need at the nationals it will be provided.

Club Forum & Reform

Considerable energy has been spent recently on standing up the State Team, putting in place and bedding down the operational support reform, and putting in place improved invoice processing.

However, there is still a little more work to be done as we now turn our mind to the club forum and landing the date it will be undertaken.

Once it has been settled as to what governance process will be in place for electing our directors and office holders in 2024 this Board’s small ‘r’ reform will conclude and bring to the vote a number of director roles, and the opportunity for the next generation of key office holders to emerge.

Yours In Judo
