Welcome to Summer!

As we tick over the calendar and begin December, it's now a fast trip to the end of the formal HV season for 2025.  Check out the details below.  This year has been outstanding.  There are so many great stories to tell from around the venues, from teams travelling to tournaments, social events among members, and individuals achieving their goals as beginners, grade competition champions, and a growing pool of State Representatives from our community.

ADULT SPRING SEASON FINALS UPDATE
The A, B, and C Grade finals have now all be played at Broadmeadow, as well as the A/B and B/C Promotion & Relegation matches, giving us the final rankings of teams heading into the 2026 season.  The 2026 season will commence at the end of January with pre-season training and new player registration nights. Details will be announced early January. 

The Spring Women's A & B Grade finals are Thursday 4th December at Q Block Hunter Sports High School starting at 6pm.  Join us if you'd like to cheer on the 8 teams playing their last game of the season.

The Spring Mixed Recreational Competition finals are also on Thursday night at HSHS, with the Bronze kicking off at 6.15pm followed by the Gold at 7.30pm.

CHRISTMAS PARTY & AWARDS NIGHT - FRIDAY 5TH DECEMBER
It's just 48 hours until the end of season celebration at NEX King Street Newcastle.  The last remaining tickets are available online but close midnight Thursday (unfortunately no tickets are available at the door on the night).

This is a fabulous evening to catch up with friends off court and celebrate the year that was!

An update will be sent to everyone in the coming weeks with details of award winners and special announcements!

CHRISTMAS BEACH VOLLEYBALL SOCIAL TOURNAMENT
Our 2025 social beach tournament date has not yet been confirmed.  We've called out for some helpers to nominate a date and collect any equipment needed to help run this event.  HV has some fun prizes and great merch for participating teams!

Michelle and Danielle will be interstate from 12-14 December, so we're keen to hear from any helpers who'd like to organise some social games, rally everyone into fancy dress, and excited to host a fun day by the Coast.  Please contact us as soon as possible if you can help.  

WHAT'S PLANNED FOR 2026?!  WHEN CAN I SIGN UP TO PLAY?!

Details about how to get involved and season dates will all be published on our website after the 2026 Calendar & Budget are formally approved by the Committee at its workshop on Saturday 10th January. 

Broadmeadow is the only Newcastle venue we have an ABSOLUTE booking for every Tuesday night from mid-January to mid-December 2026.  

Maitland High School has been tremendous in confirming bookings for volleyball on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout 2026! We're in the process of plotting the programs and dates now for release in January, including the Panthers Academy registration days and social events! 

We are still chasing confirmation of our requests to hire 3 other venues (which we're sweating on the longer it goes into December). We've also contacted 3 additional venues to request an introduction of volleyball at their schools, but have no positive news from them as yet.

As soon as we have substantial updates from these schools we can start the mega jigsaw puzzle of slotting the different skills development (for juniors and adults), competitions (juniors and adults), JVL and PVL schedules, Rep Programs (junior and adults), and much more into a spreadsheet to see what's possible next season.

2025 Membership expires on 31st January 2026.  New season come and try and pre-season activities during January are all covered by your current Membership.  

All programs commencing in February will require a renewal of Membership for the 2026/27 Membership season.  Next year's membership period will run 1 February 2026 - 28 February 2027 (1 extra month in the membership year).   

Details about 2026 Membership plus an invitation to Renew will be emailed to you directly in the New Year, ahead of the renewal deadline of 1 February 2026!

We are continuing the search for a warm shell warehouse to make the Home of HV in 2026.  The initial hurdle remains major fundraising efforts to generate new funds of up to $100,000 for lease entry and fitout costs to get us playing asap.  

This week, HV had the opportunity to introduce our Association's current profile and future plans to almost 100 of the city's business leaders, during a presentation at the Newcastle Business Club Christmas Lunch.  We look forward to exploring partnerships with local business in 2026 as we strive to achieve our fundraising goals!
