My name is John Larkins and I will be in Ballarat on the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of May. As the Southwest Umpire Developer, I’d like to invite players, umpires, parents and coaches to come along and ask any questions they may have about umpiring, pathways, rules, or development opportunities.
I will be available in the clubrooms on Saturday from 12:15pm until 1:30pm for an open Q&A session. Please feel free to drop in, introduce yourself, and have a chat.
In addition to this, I am also available to mentor or shadow junior umpires on the Saturday. If any junior umpires or coordinators would like support, feedback or on‑field guidance, I’m more than happy to assist.
On Sunday, I will be at the senior games and am happy to chat, advise, or provide critique on umpiring for anyone who would like feedback.
Our next development session will focus on supporting umpires who are looking to upgrade their skills to the Foundation Lead Umpire level.
I’m looking forward to meeting members of the Ballarat hockey community and supporting anyone interested in learning more about umpiring.
