Join us for a fun, family-friendly angling competition focused on nabbing that prized Whiting! Catch from the back of the boat or the beach (even just drop a line on the way back from Rotto!)

This FREE competition is open to all HYC Members, family and accompanying friends.

Total prize pool of $1,650! Thanks to Pinky and Secret Santa! 

Fish anytime between 6:00AM and 3:30PM, for as long or as little as you'd like. Please note that Alibi will only be going out in the morning, returning to HYC for 12noon to enjoy the 40th Anniversary Festival. 

Weigh-in at 4:00PM at Pinky's Bar. Prizes will be awarded once the weigh-in is complete. 

Entry
  • Adults (16+): Free
  • Juniors: Free
  • Please register each participant individually via this online registration
  • Registration closes at 12:00PM Sunday 15 February
Prize Categories - Whiting Bash
  • Heaviest Whiting: $300
  • Second Heaviest Whiting: $100
  • Heaviest Bag of 10: $200
  • Heaviest Junior Whiting: $100 (but not overall heaviest Whiting)
  • Mystery Weight: $200
  • Mystery Weight (2nd): $100
  • Plus lucky dip and door prizes on the day! 
Alibi Bookings

Please note, this is a competition site only. To fish from onboard Alibi, please follow the normal reservation process via Reception. We recommend you reserve a place in the Alibi book before registering for this event, as online registration does not guarantee you a place on Alibi. Please note that Alibi will only be going out in the morning, leaving HYC at 6am and returning for 12noon to enjoy the 40th Anniversary Festival. 

Rules at a Glance
  • Disclaimer, the decision to fish is the sole responsibility of the skipper (see Event Waiver on the Registration page).
  • Open to all HYC members, family & friends (fishing on the same boat). This is not an open competition and is limited to friends directly participating with members.
  • 10 Sand Whiting per person (min size: 200mm). Please see Angling Handbook for species list and rules. 
  • All fish to be in weigh-in area by 4.00pm Sunday (Feb 15th).
  • Registration open until 12.00pm Sunday 15th.
  • Fish to be kept cool in separate suitable cloth bag, cool bag or eski type container (no plastic bags please). Each competitor shall present their fish in a separate container from other competitors.
  • Normal WA fishing regulations apply
  • Prizes may be varied by Competition Management at any time cognisant of number of participants and other mitigating circumstances.
