New Year's Herring Cash Extravaganza & Species Competition
Sunday 18 January
Start the New Year with a fun, family-friendly angling competition focused on nabbing that elusive herring! Open to all HYC Members, family and accompanying friends.
Total prize pool of $450 (pre-paid Mastercard prizes)
Fish anytime between 6:00AM and 3:30PM, for as long or as little as you'd like. Even a quick stop on the way back from Rotto could put you in the money!
How it Works
- Target Herring for the main event
- Optional entry into the Monthly Angling Section Species Competion with the same entry fee
- Weigh-in at 4:00PM at Pinky's Bar. Prizes awarded once weigh-in complete
Entry
- Adults (16+): $10 (entry into both the Herring and Species Competitions)
- Juniors: Free
- Please register each participant individually via this online registration
- Registration closes at 12:00PM Sunday 18 January
Prize Categories - Herring Extravaganza
- Heaviest Herring: $100
- Junior Heaviest Herring: $100 (but not overall heaviest herring)
- Mystery Herring (cloest to mystery weight): $150
- Mystery Herring 2: $100
Species Competition (Optional)
Your entry also includes the Monthly Angling Section Species Competition. Prizes are awarded for the heaviest nominated species and surprise giveaways. Please read the Angling Handbook (linked) for the species list (page 16) and rules (page 13). The same herring will be allocated to your species score.
Alibi Bookings
Please note, this is a competition site only. To fish from Alibi, please follow the normal reservation process via Reception. We recommend you reserve a place in the Alibi book before registering for this event, as online registration does not guarantee you a place on Alibi.
Rules at a Glance
- Disclaimer, the decision to fish is the sole responsibility of the skipper (see Event Waiver on the Registration page).
- Open to all HYC members, family & friends (fishing on the same boat). This is not an open competition and is limited to friends directly participating with members.
- 1 Herring per person (min size: 200mm). If participating in species comp; please see Angling Handbook for species list and rules. The same herring will be allocated to the Species comp score.
- All fish to be in weigh-in area by 4.00pm Sunday (Jan 18th).
- Registration open until 12.00pm Sunday 18th.
- Fish to be kept cool in separate suitable cloth bag, cool bag or eski type container (no plastic bags please). Each competitor shall present their fish in a separate container from other competitors.
- Normal WA fishing regulations apply
- Prizes may be varied by Competition Management at any time cognisant of number of participants and other mitigating circumstances.
- In the event of unfavourable weather causing the competition to be postponed or cancelled, the participants will be notified by email and refunded their entry fee.
