The Combined Spinnakers & Start Racing course will be delivered over three sessions running over consecutive weekends (weather permitting).

The course will focus on:

• The use of both Symmetric and Asymmetric Spinnakers
• Fine tuning sail shape to optimise performance in various wind conditions
• Overview of different types of race courses
• Flags and signals (including Starting and finishing signals)
• Introduction to the racing rules of sailing 
• Basic racing tactics

Upon Completion you will receive your Australian Sailing – Spinnakers & Start Racing Certificate

Some flexibility in available dates may be required as the on-water elements of the course are weather dependant.
All courses have a backup date for if a session needs to be postponed due to weather, usually this will involve pushing the course back one week.

Water confident, and the skills, knowledge and experience gained in at least the Start Crewing and Start Helming courses.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who have grasped fundamental sailing skills and want to learn how to use spinnakers; asymmetrical and/or symmetrical. 

Course Outcome

You will gain your Spinnakers completion certificate.
