GolfWA TDP Program Expression of Interest 2025

GolfWA is excited to welcome expressions of interest for the 2026 Talent Development Program (TDP).
The TDP aims to offer training environments where players can learn, compete and test themselves against the best junior prospects in the state whilst upskilling off-course areas of the game - We want to support the development of good people who are good golfers.
Key Information
- The TDP is focused on the development of aspiring junior athletes
- The TDP will have 2 x Tiers based on ability / competence to create optimal training environments for athletes
- The TDP aims to develop holistic athletes through workshops on practical skills, game specific education, strength and conditioning, physio / recovery, nutrition, psychology, values, integrity and teamwork capacities.
- Some specific off course sessions will be online through webinars and some will be built into the program days
- Athletes who meet the selection criteria (below) are encouraged to apply
- Athletes who are part of the Golf Australia (WA) Tier 1-4 High Performance System should not apply
Selection Expectations
- Must show aspirations to develop their golfing capacity on and off the course including:
– Strength & Conditioning, Mental approach to golf / mindset, Nutrition and Wellbeing, Golf pathways - Must continually demonstrate expected behaviours of integrity, commitment, and respect for golf and the community
- Prospective athletes are expected to have played golf for a significant amount of time that they are competent and committed to pursuing golf in the long term - They must have a handicap
- Prospective athletes are expected to have spoken to their coach / club first who give their blessing that they are ready for this level of program
- It is anticipated that they would be competing in Junior Open Ranking Events regularly
Selection Criteria
- Turning 12 years old in 2026 and not turning 18 after the 31st April 2026
- 25/26 Junior Stroke Averages, Crunch&Sip Junior Tour Averages 25/26, GA Handicaps, Paxton and Ivey Temperley Stroke Averages (where applicable)
- Uphold the GolfWA Athlete Code of Conduct in all events past and forthcoming
*GolfWA choose not to specify a stroke average / handicap minimum as we are selecting across a variety of ages and the selection process will identify talent for their age
Selection Process
- A TDP selection panel will select athletes based on the selection criteria
- There is a maximum capacity of 72 athletes (36 x Tier 1, 36 x Tier 2)
- The athletes will be notified of their selection by Friday 12th June 2026
*GolfWA hold the right to adjust the selection criteria on a case-by-case basis
** GolfWA hold the right to select less than the maximum capacity depending on the depth of applications and stage of development of athletes expressing interest
*** GolfWA hold the right to deselect any athlete or parent who has breached the GolfWA Code of Conduct Policy
TDP Content
- 5 x TDP sessions for Tier 1 and Tier 2, annually
- Includes on course and off course holistic skills, and exploring an end of year TDP Camp / Event in December
- Whilst we try our best to avoid clashes with other events, we cannot always avoid all events (including club championships, Paxton / Ivey Temperley events etc)
- Elite PGA Professional coaches and accredited experts in their field, will deliver all programs
*GolfWA may be required to change the above content based on course access, weather, other events
