COACHING IS BACK
We are so excited to offer this for to our new and beginner riders!!! Kenny will run this on Thursdays and will run during term 2 of the SA school term (subject to coaching availability and weather) and is strictly capped at 12 riders. 
 
Who is a new or beginner rider?
🤟🏻 A person who is new to the sport
🤟🏻 A person who can independently ride a pedal bike
 
Skill Requirement
Before booking, we kindly ask parents to review the Is My Child Ready? checklist to ensure their child meets the minimum skill and equipment requirements. This helps us keep sessions safe, enjoyable, and appropriate for all riders. Please refer to the attached file 
 
What skills are focused on during training?
🚀 Independent gate starts (when they are ready and confident to hit the starting gate!)
🚀 Level pedals & standing whilst pedalling
🚀 Pumping techniques
🚀 Basic cornering drills
🚀 Bunny hopping
🚀 Increased confidence on the track
 
Equipment
Equipment Riders must wear the following as a minimum when riding a BMX track:
1. Full faced helmet
2. Gloves (full fingered)
3. Full length pants (racing pants preferred)
4. Full length shirt (racing shirts preferred)
5. Shoes, with socks that cover the ankles.
Jumpers may be worn if they’re completely zipped up and have no cords which could get caught in the wheels.
Riders may also choose to wear goggles. Knee and elbow pads are at the discretion of the rider/parent/guardian.
 
The Club has limited loan helmets & Gloves available to use during the 4-week trial period. 
 
Bike Requirements 
Bike Two styles of bicycles are recognised in a BMX race:
- Standard 20 inch
- Cruiser 24 inch 
You don’t need to buy a bike designed for racing straight away, you can start with an 20” bike (wheel size) that meets the safety requirements below:
1. No front brake
2. No rear pedal brakes (pedalling backwards stops the bike)
3. No freestyle pegs
4. No lights or reflectors
5. No stands or chain guards
6. Must have a handlebar mounted and a rear wheel brake
