FCSA at Youth Sail QLD 2026 – What a Week!

Fraser Coast Sailing Academy was proud to be part of Youth Sail QLD 2026, hosted by our friends at Keppel Bay Sailing Club in Yeppoon from 21–26 September.

Youth Sail QLD brings together junior and youth sailors from around Queensland and further afield for six fantastic days of sailing – beginning with a three-day coaching clinic and followed by the three-day Queensland Youth Championships.

FCSA's Chief Youth Instructor, Alex, spent all six days on the water coaching the Green Fleet at Causeway Lake, working with young sailors across the Optimist, Sabot and O'pen Skiff fleets. Stephan was also in Yeppoon volunteering and supporting the event throughout the week.

For us, events like Youth Sail QLD demonstrate exactly where learning to sail can lead. A child can start with Tackers, learn the fundamentals of handling their own boat, progress into Green Fleet and then discover a whole new world of coaching, regattas, friendships and sailing adventures.

And you certainly don't need to be an elite racer to be part of it. The Green Fleet provides developing sailors with an opportunity to experience a major sailing event while continuing to learn and build their confidence in a supportive environment.

A huge thank you to Keppel Bay Sailing Club, Australian Sailing, the coaches, officials and the many volunteers who make an event of this scale possible.

We have a particularly close relationship with KBSC and greatly appreciate the support they have provided to FCSA and junior sailing on the Fraser Coast. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to contribute something back.

To our own young sailors and sailing families: put Yeppoon on your calendar for next year! It's a fantastic sailing experience, a great week away and absolutely worth the trip.
