This event is hosted by the Friends of Brisbane Ranges (FoBR).  Club members within the Western Liaison Group are invited to participate in this activity. 

Since 2024, FoBR members have been removing Sallow Wattle (Acacia longifolia) within the National Park. Sallow wattle is native to NSW and is invasive in parts of Victoria, such as the Brisbane Ranges and the Grampians.

Meeting location/assembly point and facilities:
The meeting location and briefing will be held at the Harry Peeters Reserve. 

Weather: 
Melbourne / Anakie in spring can be variable weather.
Review the weather forecast for the district and bring appropriate clothing and footwear.

Additional info, personal protective equipment & tools:

• BYO food and drinking water for lunch and breaks.
• Sturdy shoes/boots, long pants and long-sleeve shirts are highly recommended for walking off track in bushland with an understory of saplings and shrubs, thick grassy areas.
• BYO thick gardening gloves and eye protection.
• BYO TOOLS (any of the following): pruning saw or bow saw, pruning loppers, if you own a reciprocating/sabre saw with a pruning blade, bring this along. 
  Note: The diameter of wattle varies from a few millimetres (which can often be pulled by hand) up to 150mm.  Larger trees are felled by Vic Parks staff.

Biosecurity Hygiene (or Phytophthora Hygiene):
Phytophthora cinnamomi, also known as dieback, is well documented within the national park and as such phytophthora hygiene controls are practiced on site.   We recommend bringing the following with you:-

• Small stiff bristle brush, and
• Small spray bottle with a mixture of 70% Methylated Spirits / 30% water.
