Please use this form to register for the 2017 New Zealand National U15 & U17 Championships, which will be held at Avonside Girls High School Gym, Avonside Dr, Christchurch, on 22-24 April 2017

Entries Close at 5pm on Wednesday 19th April 2017. 

Eligibility: 

The U15 competition is open to all fencers who were under 15 years old on the 1st January 2017 ie: born in  2002 including 1st January 2002. 

The Cadet competition is open to all fencers who were under 17 years old on 1st January 2017 ie: born in 2000 including 1st January 2000. This competition is suitable for secondary school students. 

Participants must be members of Fencing New Zealand for 2017 fencing year. (ie: have paid their membership fee for the year) If you are not yet a member you can become one. ( link to follow)

 

Competition Format: 1 round of poules (Bouts to 5 hits) followed by direct elimination (Bouts to 15 hits).

All weapons will be fenced as separate gender unless numbers do not permit.ie: 6+ competitors for each gender. If this is the case an event will be fenced mixed gender.

Medals: Gold, Silver & 2 Bronze medals will be awarded in each event

 

Entry Fees: U15: Entry Fee is $45 for first weapon, $25 for each additional weapon

U17: Entry Fee is $45 for first weapon, $25 for each additional weapon

Mid-South prefers entry fees to be paid by internet banking. 

Please make internet banking payments to Fencing Mid-South, a/c number 03-0802-0087494-00. Please use your invoice number ie: ME79 and name as your reference.

 You may also pay by visa or mastercard via the paypal application attached to your emailed invoice

 

Equipment Standards: Clothing:

  • Minimum of 1150N protection for Torso. This can be made up either by 350N Jacket with an 800N plastron or 800N Jacket with a 350N plastron.  
  • 350N Breeches
  • 350N Mask. All masks must be fitted well and in good state and elastic in good condition. Leon Paul X-Change Masks must have a  secondary Strap/Bar. Visor Masks are strictly prohibited for all 3 weapons
  • Gloves- Must have no hole for body wires
  • Chest Protectors for Girls is compulsory.

Foil: Lame Bibs and FIE blades required, Bayonet and 2 pin body wires accepted. 

Epee: FIE blades required. Leon Paul SR-71 blades that are stamped 2013 to 2015 will not be accepted. 

Sabre: FIE blades S2000 or later blades required. 

Leon Paul V blade without a unique serial number will not be accepted

 

Weapons Check: Friday Night- 21 April 2017: At the venue, Avonside Girls Gym- for Christchurch Fencer and traveling fencers who have already arrived. 6pm to 8pm

Weapons Check will be open 1 hour before each event. Priority will be given to out of town fencers at this time. Christchurch fencers please make sure you have had your weapons checked on Friday night.

2pm                             Epee Competition Commences (earlier if all competitors are available)  

Sunday 23rd April

7:45am to 8:15am    Registration U17 Boy's Foil
8:30am                     U17 Boy's Foil Competition Commences
10am to 10:30am    Registration U17 Women’s Epee
11am                       U17 Women’s Epee Competition Commences
 

Monday 24th April

7:45am to 8:15am     Registration U17 Boy's Epee
8:30am                      U17 Boy's Epee Competition Commences
9:45am to 10:15am   Registration U17 Women’s Foil

10:30am                    U17 Women’s Foil Competition Commences

1pm to 1:30pm          Registration U15 & U17 Sabre

1:45pm                     U15 & U17 Sabre Competition Commences

 

Canteen: A canteen will be available on site for food and drink. Please note there are no cafes or take away places close to the venue.

Mobile Coffee Cart:
The Coffee Vice car will visit the venue for a refuel all days of the competition. Approximate times as follows...

Accommodation: Accommodation can be sourced and booked through the link of the Veteran Commonwealth Fencing Page. This link is still active and Fencing Mid-South receive a small benefit to go towards Youth Development.

The closest accommodation to the venue is in the CBD. BreakFre is a cheap and trendy option. 

Competition Tee Shirt: A competition tee shirt is available to purchase for this event. If you would like a tee shirt you need to order and pay for it by 5th April.
