Mid South Primary & Intermediate School Championships 2018

This tournament is for Year 1 to Year 8 students and is aimed at giving our younger age group fencers competition experience with other fencers from their school and fencing class, plus the chance to meet other fencers from different clubs, classes and schools.

If numbers permit separate boys and girls events will be fenced as well as U9, U11, U13 age groups. Ages are taken as of 1 January 2018 ie: if you have turned 11 after 1 January this year you can fence in the U11 category, if you turned 13 after 1 January this year you can fence in the U13 category.

Participants must be members of Fencing New Zealand  (ie: have paid their membership fee for the 2018 year). If you are not yet a member you can click on the link below and become one and pay online. ($65) .  A membership check will be done for all entries on Wednesday 19th September.

Format: 1 or 2 rounds of pools(time dependent) fenced to 5 points. Followed by a round of direct elimination ( dependent on age group & entries) fenced to 8 points.

Timetable:

12 noon Registration opens

12.15pm Registration closes

12.30pm Fencing commences

Fencing is likely to finish  around 4:30pm. 

Medals: will be presented to the top 4 fencers in each event( 1st, 2nd, 3rd=)

Gear Requirements: 350N Fencing Jacket, 350N Plastron, Chest Protectors are compulsory for girls, 350N breeches or Long track suit pants are accepted. Sports shoes. Fencing glove, 350N Fencing Mask, Lame. Electric Foil sizes 0 to 3 maybe used.

Please Note: Shorts, jeans or 3/4 leggings are not acceptable. Lame Bibs are not required

Entry Fee: $15 per person.

Entry fees are to be paid at time of entry. Mid South's preferred payment method is by internet banking.

As the reference please use fencer's name and the invoice number eg: ME736

Late Entries will be accepted at the discretion of the organiser.

Canteen: There will be a canteen run at the venue on the day. As the event is an afternoon only, the canteen will have afternoon tea items (savoury and sweet) plus tea, coffee and juices. 

Results: Live results will be available on the Fencing Mid South website.
