The Recreational Skippers Ticket (RST) is a nationally recognised certificate of competency which shows that the holder has the minimum knowledge and practical skills needed to operate a powerboat safely.

The RST course consists of a Theory and Practical component. 

Course attendees must be 14 or older to complete the course.

Please be aware, this course has a minimum number of registrations. In the event that the minimum is not met, the course will be rescheduled.

Course Costs:

$330 (non-members) | $270 (EFYC members)

Theory Sessions:

The theory component of the course will take place over two weekday evenings (usually Monday & Tuesday), from 6pm – 9pm, at EFYC. This includes 5 hours of tuition, where we will review the entire RST workbook with you, as well as 1 hour to sit the multiple choice theory assessment.

To pass the theory portion of the RST you will need to obtain a mark of 80% or higher. You will not be able to complete the practical assessment until you successfully pass the theory assessment. With over 16 years of experience in teaching the RST course, we will provide you with a comprehensive review of the syllabus so there is no need for pre-learning.

Please bring to the theory sessions:

• Photo ID (preferably a Driver's License)

• If you do not have a Driver’s License or Learner's Permit, you will need to have an eyesight test completed on an approved form and provide several pieces of alternate identification. The second page of form does not need to completed, only the eyesight test. You must provide this eyesight form in hard copy with a wet signature (not digital) either to the EFYC office prior to course commencement or to the course instructor on the first evening of the course. Provision of a completed Eyesight Form is a course criteria for attendees who do not have a Driver's License/Learner's Permit and if it is not supplied, the course cannot be completed. • If the participant is under 18 we will also require a signed letter of consent on this approved form. You must provide a hard copy of this consent form with a wet signature (not digital) either to the EFYC office prior to course commencement or to the course instructor on the first evening of the course. Provision of a completed Letter of Consent is a course criteria for attendees who are under 18 and if it is not supplied, the course cannot be completed. • A notebook and pen

Please bring to the Practical session:

At the theory session, the instructor will arrange a time to practice and then complete your practical assessment. This will usually be on a morning the following weekend. If this will not suit your availiability, the instructor will work with you to find a time that suits.

• Photo ID (as per above)

• Sun safe clothing and sunscreen

• Please also carefully review tasks 5 and 11 (log off and log on) as these will be assessed right away to save time for other parts of the assessment
