Keelboat Sailing is a popular activity at East Fremantle Yacht Club.
The Keelboat Section hold both racing and cruising events suitable for all levels of skill and experience and encourage any ony interested to get involved.
Regular racing is run Sundays, and on some Wednesday and Friday evenings in a professional yet collegiate manner, where participation is valued well above high intensity competition.
Yachts are divided into 4 divisions based on performance. Racing at the club takes place most weeks throughout summer on the river with a smattering of events in the inshore waters of Cockburn Sound and Gage Roads for those who want to venture into the ocean, and include the traditional D'Arcy Race to Rottnest.
On Wednesday evening, East Fremantle Yacht Club during the summer sailing season hold a social twilight cruise and all keelboats are encouraged to participate. This is not a race event, although on a small number of days in the middle a summer a Wednesday Evening Race may occur concurrently.
