Discover Sailing Day – Sunday 19 April
9:00am–12:00pm – FREE EVENT

Come and experience the magic of sailing on the River Derwent at our Discover Sailing Day! This free, fun morning is the perfect introduction to life on the water — no experience needed.

You’ll join one of our experienced skippers for a short, friendly race, giving you a taste of real sailing in a safe and supported environment. After sailing, head back to the club for a relaxed BBQ and a chat.

What to Expect:

• Welcome and safety briefing

• Learn the basic parts of the boat

• Quick on-water introduction and training

• Take part in a short race with an experienced skipper

• BBQ back at the club afterwards

Who is this for?
Anyone who wants to try sailing for the first time or see what the sport is all about! You don’t need any experience — just a sense of adventure and basic water confidence. All equipment is provided.

What to Bring/Wear:

• Comfortable clothing

• Soft-soled, enclosed shoes (runners are fine)

• Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen

• Waterproof jacket 
• Warm layers

Fitness/Ability:
No previous sailing experience is required. You should be able to board and disembark the boat unaided.
