After a very successful 2026 where we had 3 teams in grand finals and our Under 16s bringing home the premiership in that competition for the first time since the early 1990s, we look forward to continuing to build our club success this year.

Training:

The Demons Hockey Club trains on Tuesdays. As we have a number of teams this year, we are needing to slightly alter the training times to accomodate the number of players we have and them being able to access enough space on the Pedrina Park pitch.

Under 10 and Under 13 teams will train 5pm-6pm

Under 16 and Senior teams will train 6pm-7pm

Junior players MUST train with all safety equipment of shin guards and mouth guards. Please bring a drink bottle.

Training begins on March 24

Season 2026

Hockey begins on the weekend of April 24-26. Games will be played on April 25 but not until after 12pm. Under 16 games on that weekend will be twilight games under lights.

A grade men and women will alternate playing on Friday nights and Sunday afternoon. Under 16s will play at 9am and 10.30am on Saturday. Under 10s will play at 12pm and 1pm Saturday. Under 13s will play at 1.30pm and 3pm Saturday. Div 2 women will play on Sundays. 

There will be 14 rounds of hockey this season with no play on the weekend of Junior Country Championships (JCC /Country Week) on May 16-17 in Melbourne, and byes on the middle (July 3-5) and last weekend (July 10-12) of the school holidays.

Finals will be played over 3 weeks beginning August 28-30. Grand finals will be held on Friday September 11 (Div 1 men and women) and Saturday September 12 (U16, U10, U13 and Div 2 women)

Teams 2026 / Club registrations

Club fees for 2026 are as follows:

*Please note compulsory Hockey Victoria registration fees are added to this and may appear as charges for Hockey Victoria and Hockey Australia on the payment invoice through Revolutionise.

Under 10 players: $60 

Under 13 and Under 16 players: $80

Adult players: $100

Team nominations need to be with the association by March 23. Ages for players/divisions are as follows:

• Under 10 mixed (aged 9 or under as of January 1, 2026)
• Under 13 mixed (aged 12 or under as of January 1, 2026 - girls are permitted to play in this grade the year they turn 14)
• Under 16 (aged 15 or under as of January 1, 2026)
• Div 1 men - there will again be a Demons Men, and a Devils team - a development team of our older Under 16 players and those who aged out last year. The association is attempting to get a second, younger, A grade team up to support the transition and development of players from Under 16 to A Grade.
• Div 2 women - this year we are welcoming a number of new hockey players to the sport in parents of junior players! Keen and you haven't let us know? Please do!! The more the merrier! And the association is working hard to get a 4th team up in this division so we can play every week. 
• Want to play multiple games? Junior players are welcome to and encouraged to play in multiple teams if they so desire to (ie. Under 16 and Div 1 men / Under 13 and Div 2 women / Under 13 and Under 16) please pay the $30 multi-team playing fee.

Coaches: We have coaches for our Under 16 and Under 13 teams but this year, however, we have the strong possibility of a second Under 13 team (very exciting) and we need coaches for our littlest players - our Under 10s (we have one team with returning players and the prospect of a second team). Keen? Just let us know! There are many resources available for coaching through Hockey Vicotria or to work as team with another parent to help new coaches. You will need a current working with children check.

Players will be put into teams based on their age. In some cases, permits may be sought for older players who are not confident to play up a grade.  In the event of multiple teams in a single division, every effort will be made by the Demons Hockey Club to make the teams even, however, preference is given to keeping siblings together in teams where possible.
