As a club, we have decided to not raise club fees in season 2025. Club fees remain: $50 for 18yrs & under, and $80 for 19yrs & over.

However, on registration players/parents will notice a rise in Hockey Victoria fees which are now $112.00 for 18 & under (up from 98.31 in 2024) and $141.50 for 19 & over (up from 127.31 in 2024). These fees are mandatory and set by Hockey Vic - not the club or the association.

As the club is charged a fee per team by the association, we now request those juniors playing two grades to select the 'multi team' fee. This additional $30 fee contributes towards the cost of the second team. (Ie. team fees for Div4 and U16 are $840/team - if we have all individual players paying, the club fees cover this - however, if we have 3/4 players playing both, we have a fee shortfall). We appreciate families supporting this fee.

Training in 2025

Training will begin on April 1 from 5pm-7pm and run every week for some fitness work and get everyone's head back in the game before the season begins. Senior players are requested to wear mouth guards and shin guards at training. It is mandatory all junior players wear mouth guards and shin guards at training.

Training during the season is on Tuesdays. Junior training is held from 5-6pm (Div 5, Div 4 and U16) and from 6-7pm for senior teams. U16 players stepping up into senior grades are welcome to stay on and have a run with the seniors after their junior training has finished.

Umpiring in 2025

We understand no-one really enjoys umpiring! However, we cannot play the game without umpires.

Umpiring games is a paid gig ($25/game) and it is one of ther best ways for players to get a better understanding for how the game is played and how other teams we compete against play the game (also, we all know when a ball hits a foot in the game, or we are being obstructed, so we can actually all umpire ... its just about confidently blowing the whistle ... and no umpire ever gets it right 100% of the time).

All senior players will be required to either umpire, or find an umpire, during the season. We encourage those senior players who do not feel confident stepping straight into a senior game, or new junior players (or their parents!) to get in contact with Liz Mecham (0407015059) or via demonshockeyclub@gmail.com to discuss having a go at umpiring. New umpires (or those returning) will have someone walk with them while they umpire for the first few weeks to support them. New junior umpires are not expected to umpire in their first weeks/s - they will shadow another umpire to see how it's done and get a feel for where to walk and stand.

We have been very lucky as a club to have some enthusiastic juniors who have stepped up in recent years and covered pretty much all the umpiring, but they have / are finishing school so are not as available.

Code of Conduct

We remind everyon that when you sign up, or sign your child up, you agree to be bound by the conduct of fair play and sportsmanship as outlined in the Hockey Victoria code of conduct.

  • Respect for other players
  • Respect for the umpires
  • Respect for the rules of the game
  • Respect for the facilities on which we play and use each week
  • Zero tolerance of foul language on the field as a player, beside the field as a spectator, and towards umpires.

The Demons Hockey Club, the Glenelg Region Hockey Association and the umpires have right to remvoe players from the game and ask spectators to leave the field.

Lost, damaged or un-returned shirts at the end of the season will be charged at $50 per shirt to the player.

Players must provide their own playing socks (red unless otherwise advised),navy playing shorts/skort shoes, hockey stick and safety equipment (mouthguard and shin guards).

Club apparel is available via QX3 ORDER CLUB APPAREL HERE

Delivery time is approx. 6 weeks

Safety equipment

Parents of junior players are requested to ensure their children understand the importance of players keeping safety equipment on at all times they are on the field - this includes their mouth guards in their mouth at all times they are on the field and shin guards worn at training

We understand some kids don't enjoy having mouth guards in, but please ensure mouth guards are moulded correctly and the kids understand they need to be in their mouths even when the ball is not near them!

PLEASE NOTE: It is a new rule in 2025 via Hockey Victora that ALL players (including those aged over 18) must wear face protection when defending a short corner. The club will provide teams with face masks. It is the responsibility of players to wear these when defening short corners.

Fundraising in 2025

The Demons Hockey Club has made the decision not to raise club fees in 2025 largely due to the increase in costs of everyday living, the increase in costs from Hockey Victoria registrations, and our desire to keep hockey as an affordable sporting option for as many people as possible.

As such, the club will need to undertake fundraising during the season and we will keep you updated on these activities as they are planned.

See you on the pitch!
