Tribute to Elle and Luca

Elle, a lovely, local lady who loved colour and all things African, was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. One of our team introduced her to dragonboating and she immediately took to it. She loved the exercise and companionship of paddling with others in a similar situation. Unfortunately her cancer returned and in 2013, very sadly we lost Elle. By chance, a few years later her husband Barry heard of the new Patterson Lakes DA club and his family offered to buy a boat in Elle's memory.

The new Dragons Abreast Patterson Lakes Pink Lotus dragonboat was named Elluca in honour of Elle and Luca a young boy - and friend of her family - who passed away from leukaemia. The sides of the dragonboat have been brightly decorated in the Pink Lotus pink and green team colours with the bold dragon motifs Elle so loved.

Elle's family left an amazing legacy and Pink Lotus (Dragons Abreast Patterson Lakes) are thankful to Barry, Rod and Tara. Their family can be proud many more breast cancer survivors will experience the joy and exhilaration of paddling plus have the support of the Pink Lotus team during their recovery.
