Welcome to Southern Investigator Winter Program Training Day 4 full day
Cost of the session: $250
Time: 0900 start and 1600 finish
What to bring: Some lunch, warm clothes, wet weather gear if owned (if not no problem we have lots on the boat), a change of clothes for apres sailing refreshments at the CYCSA club bar.

This session is going to focus on elements from the RYA Dayskipper program that may include:

  • Handling a yacht under power in particular:
    • Preparation for leaving a marina berth
    • Getting a sailing vessel out of a marina pen
    • Briefing of crew for various mooring manoeuvres
    • Use of slip lines to maintain control
    • Bringing a sailing vessel alongside a berth under power 
    • Departing an alongside berth
    • Picking up and dropping a mooring
    • Setting and weighing anchor
  • Handling a yacht under sail
    • Preparing a yacht for sailing
    • Clear communications to new crew for setting, furling, reefing and dropping sails
    • Basic sail trim
    • How to communicate to crew how to steer on various points of sail.
  • Note this day of training is non RYA accredited but will be very beneficial to new boat owners or people that have done Start Yachting or Competent Crew RYA training and are thinking about undertaking the RYA Dayskipper qualification.
