Recently, a few Creatives travelled to Brisbane to visit the Flying Arts exhibition, showcasing the work of MOO, winner of the 2025 Queensland Regional Art Awards (QRAA) Remote Regional Artist Award. It was a reminder of just how powerful it is to experience art in person. 

A standout for me was Monsters Carrying Flowers, a playful collection of ceramic sculptural forms balancing whimsy with deeper meaning.

At first glance, the creatures seem charming and quirky, each carrying delicate flowers. But as the accompanying artist statement explains, the work explores the complexities of giving, expectation and human relationships. The flowers become symbols of apology, peace offerings and generosity, while the monsters remind us that even imperfect beings are capable of tenderness.

It's this kind of layered storytelling that makes seeing artwork in person so valuable. You notice the textures of the clay, the scale of the forms, the shadows they cast, and the small details that are impossible to appreciate through a screen. More importantly, you leave with ideas.

Sometimes the biggest takeaway isn't a technique at all, it's the reminder that every artist has developed their own visual language through curiosity, persistence and play.

Come along on the 10th August as we REimagining the LEASH- Unleashed @HOTA @ Sat Aug 8, 2026 (Creatives Inc). Our next members meetup is  a hands-on gallery water colour and drawing session using the work in Unleash as our model. This exhibition features cutting-edge, emerging Queensland designers, working across ceramics, textiles, furniture, and objects. Our sketching session focus will naturally be on structural linework, textures, and geometric forms. Followed by a coffee chat and inspiration catchup afterwards.
