The CRDL Freshies Program is run over three courses:

• Learn to skate program – 6 week course where you learn basic derby related skate skills – the level of attainment for this course is WHITE STAR
• Beginner derby program – 12 week course where you learn how to hit and take hits – the level of attainment for this course is YELLOW STAR.
• Bouting skater development program – 12 week course where you start to learn the strategy and advanced skills of derby – the level of attainment for this course is ORANGE STAR.

The program provides new players with a basic knowledge of derby game play, teach new players foundation skate skills, and develop derby-specific skate skills and techniques to start playing. We value new players with a good attitude, commitment, coachability, and a drive for improvement.
