Course information
Your Discover Sailing journey starts here as you learn the fundamental skills of sailing and are introduced to the fun of dinghy sailing in a safe and supportive environment. This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery.
Cost $200 +$25 for 4 weeks of training including water craft, safety equipment such as lifejackets, qualified instructors, membership to CPSC until June 2026. Included in the cost is registration with Australian Sailing and completion certificate.
Our courses are fun, safe and fully supervised by qualified Sailing Australia instructors.
What to bring:
- Spray jacket
- Wets2uit - it can still be cool on the water in Spring.
- Old shoes/reef shoes/neoprene boots for sailing
- Board shorts or swimmers
- A change of warm clothes
- Towel
- Sunscreen and hat
- Snack and waterbottle

Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.

We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
