Information about Learn to Sail 2 Program

What do I need to bring?
- Shoes/wetsuit boots to get wet in to protect your feet – you will not be allowed on the water without footwear for safety reasons.
- Wet weather clothes (see below)
- Towel, Hat, Suncream
- A change of clothes ('dry clothes') – warm clothes (A WARM JUMPER/JACKET AND PANTS)
- We will provide a lifejacket to get you started, but if you own a 50(type 2) or 50S(type 3) bring it along to wear.

Where do I come to?
Meet in the Connells Point Sailing Club at 9:00am.
The club is located inside Donnelly Park on Kyle Parade, Connells Point.
What will I do on the first day?
- Meet the instructors, assistant instructors, volunteers and other children.
- Re-orientation to the club and Saturday programs
- Rig your boat for sailing
- Follow the instructors for on water information
If I am a parent how can I help?
You are most welcome to be present during all activities.
CPSC is a volunteer sailing club and you will need to learn how to help your child to get their boat out and put away their boat. There are other volunteer activities at the club if you are able to help please speak with Karen or another club member.
As a parent you can: (Instructors will advise what jobs need to be done each day)
- Help children get the boats and sails out of the shed
- Help the children in and out of the water
- Help children wash and put away boats
We will assist you to learn what to do throughout the course. You don’t need to know what to do to start but just a willingness to join in and help out is appreciated.

Course Overview
This course equips participants with boat rigging knowledge and sailing skills to sail a dinghy on their own.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident, and the skills and knowledge gained in Start Sailing 1.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who have completed Start Sailing 1 and are wanting to learn and continue to develop their fundamental sailing skills.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing 2 completion certificate.

We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
