2021/2022 Season Start dates confirmed

Published Tue 28 Sep 2021

Following many challenging months experienced by our Softball commuity, Cumberland Nepean Softball Association (CNSA) is looking forward to welcoming its members back to the diamonds for the 2021/2022 season. CNSA does wish to advise that the Softball season this year will look different to those experienced in the past and we ask our members to embrace this with all efforts being made to ensure that we are able to get back onto the diamond. Details for the upcoming season are shown below:

Season Length: 10 weeks (no finals)

Date/s to Commence

  • Friday Competition - Friday 28 January 2022
  • Saturday Competition - Saturday 29 January 2022
  • Wednesday Competition - Wednesday 2 February 2022

NOTE: CNSA will be providing Softball to the local community in line with guidance received from the NSW Government and Softball NSW in relation to COVID-19. This may be subject to change.

CNSA appreciates that the season does look different to years prior and have considered many points in determining a way forward. These have included:

  • NSW Government Guidlines regarding return to community sport - 80% double dose vaccinated
  • Unvaccinatted members will not be able to participate until after 1 December 2021
  • Softball NSW requirements for return to train and play
  • The concerns and reluctance of members to undertake sporting activities due to health risks
  • Once restrictions have eased, the desire of our members and their families to undertake social activites, see family members and friends they have not seen and the impact this may have on clubs to field teams week to week.
  • The expectation that SNSW State Championships will be played throughout Nov/Dec 2021 and the impact it may have on our season.
  • Potential conflicts with winter sports in 2022

Fees: Due to the changes to the season length, CNSA will be amending its member fees and umpiring levies relative to the season length. Please contact your club for more information.

Age Limits: For competitions that have age limitations, the age listed will be as at 31 December 2021.

So what's NEXT?!?

REPRESENTATIVE PROGRAM: CNSA is awating advice from Softball NSW on when the remaining state championships may be played this year. Pending this advice we will be advertising dates for remaining trials (as placeholders only) in the coming week. NOTE: This program is subject to change and will be administered in line with NSW Government, Softball NSW and Blacktown City Council guidelines.

SOCIAL EVENT: Pending NSW government advice, CNSA plans to hold a social event at Stanhope Gardens on Saturday 4 December 2021 (more details to follow), but mark this date in your diary. It will give you an opportunity to connect with your Softball friends.

REGISTRATION: We ask all members to START REGISTERING for the 2021/2022 season NOW so that we can start planning for our season. Payment is NOT required at the time of registering.

If you have any questions about the season, please don't hesitate to contact us via secretary@cumberlandsoftball.org.au or your club.

We look forward to the upcoming Softball season and seeing you all out on the diamond enjoying our sport!
