Corporate Rowing

CORPORATE ROWING

Capital Lakes Rowing Club offers a sweep oar corporate rowing program in an eight boat to local organisations and businesses.  Organisational benefits of corporate rowing include:

  • development of teamwork;
  • builds shared commitment and reinforces the need for mutual obligation;
  • involves experiential learning, which is viewed as far more effective in changing behaviour than seminar-style learning
  • may improve retention of participants in Canberra through enhanced awareness of  Canberra’s assets,  in particular the Lake and its surrounds and the recreational opportunities they offer; and
  • helps participants acquire new recreational skill contributing to a healthy work life balance.

For participants, the program provides a unique and fun experience, as well as a genuine learning opportunity and, possibly, a lifelong pursuit in recreational or competitive rowing.

What does it involve?

A minimum crew of 8 is required but we would recommend 10 to allow for work pressures, absences from Canberra and sickness. Sessions are conducted on three weekday mornings, from 6.00am to 8.00 am. The program runs for 4 weeks, and culminates in a thrilling regatta on the final weekend.

Capital Lakes Rowing Club will provide:

  • a coach;
  • reserve rowers;
  • coxswain if a suitable person is not available from the participating organisation;
  • an Eight and tinnie
  • certificates
  • breakfast on the morning of the regatta,
  • and a Capital Lakes Rowing Club Cap.

What does it cost?

The cost for a corporate crew for the 4 weeks, along with the regatta and certificates, is $4,000.
