This iconic road race has been staged more than 30 times. Runners start at the bottom gate of Lake Morris Road and wind their way uphill through shady tropical rainforest for 15 kilometres.
This year sees the return of the relay event with the changeover at the water spot Waddlebla (7km). The finish line is at the picnic area overlooking scenic Lake Morris which is held back by the Copperlode Dam in the mountains behind Cairns. Enjoy a sweet treat after the race (yes its a CUPcake). The road will be closed to cars so we will have this course to ourselves. Don't miss this one!
Logistics:
1. Park at the bottom of Lake Morris Rd and walk to the gate (about 1k, allow 15mins)
2. Gate will be open to allow anyone family or friends to drive up to the finish line before the runners start.
3. Relay runners will change about 7k up the hill at Waddlebla track
4. Sign in from 6.15am for 7am start
5. Water at the relay change over point and cup cakes and fruit at the finish
6. Car pooling will get runners back down if required
