Course Overview

Start Sailing 1 is a great place to start if you've never sailed before. Learn the fundamentals of sailing, boat handling and safety while gaining confidence on the water. You'll be introduced to sailing a dinghy in a supportive environment, learning from a qualified Sailing Instructor.

BYS provides all the equipment needed for the course, including boats and lifejackets.

Course Prerequisites

Water confident. No previous sailing experience is required.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.

Course Overview

This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.
