Ready to have a go at sailing? Try Tackers is a fun, one-hour introduction to sailing for kids who are curious about getting out on the water.

We’ll have a look at the boats, learn some basics and then head out for a ride in a Tackers boat with our instructors*. It’s a great way to see what sailing is all about in a relaxed, fun environment.

BYS supplies the boats and lifejackets. Just wear clothing and footwear that you’re comfortable getting wet in, and bring a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle.

Our 4 October sessions are for junior members only, or children with a parent or grandparent who is a club member. If this isn't you, check back in via our website as we're hoping to add more Try Tackers sessions soon.

Course Overview
This is the ideal introduction to the Tackers program. Children will enjoy fun, on-water activities that help them become familiar with sailing in a relaxed, non-competitive environment, with a pathway to more sailing through Tackers.

Course Prerequisites

• Water confident
• 7-12 years old (albeit where younger or older siblings or friends want to also participate, please contact your local Centre)

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to be introduced to the sport of sailing. It's an ideal course to determine whether you'd like to participate in a Tackers 1 course.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Tackers Intro completion certificate.
