Ready to get OutThere? This program is a fun and social introduction to sailing and other activities on the water for young people aged 12–17.

OutThere is all about trying new things, having fun with friends and building confidence on the water. Depending on the conditions and the interests of the group, activities may include sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing, powerboating and other on-water adventures.

What to wear

OutThere activities can be wet and active, so participants should be comfortable getting wet and bring clothing and footwear suitable for being on the water. A wetsuit is ideal, particularly in cooler weather.

OutThere is a great way to try sailing without committing to a season-long program. If your child enjoys it and wants to keep sailing, they can continue developing their skills through BYS Junior & Youth Sail Training.

Overview

OutThere Sailing 1 is a great introduction to the sport of sailing and the skills required but will still focus on fun with friends. The program provides a wide variety of on water activities that will introduce sailing and, depending on your club, an opportunity to experience stand up paddle boarding, windsurfing and power boating. You will learn skills through exciting exercises and put them to good use in fun, on-water activities.

Water confident.

Who should do this program?

This program is designed for participants who are 12-17 years-old looking to try a new activity, have some fun and engage with others whilst sailing.
