WINTER J/70 COACHING PROGRAM

Monthly coached training sessions, followed by short fleet racing.

Session 1, Sat 23 May 2026 - Boat set up, launching and rigging, on water training

Session 2, Sat 20 June 2026 - Crew roles and three sails tuning; racing

Session 3, Sat 4 July 2026 - Boat handling; racing

Session 4, Sat 1 Aug 2026 - Boat speed and finer rigging; racing

Session 5, Sat 12 Sept 2026 - Sprint series racing

 

Session 1 timing - 11:30-3:00 

Sessions 2-5 timing - 10.15 briefing, 10.30 program start, 12:00 training session ends, lunch on water, 12:30 race start, 14:30 pack up, 15:00 debrief

Participants must commit to attending at least 3 sessions throughout the program. We'd love to see you at all five. During registration, you'll be asked to nominate the sessions you are available to attend.

This program includes skipper and crew positions on board the three BYS J/70s and joining existing J70 teams from the Blairgowrie fleet. 

 

Registration is open to:

  • Existing J/70 boat owners and their crews
  • Existing Youth J/70 Squad sailors (you can still sign up here) (included with squad sign-up fees)
  • YST sailors aged 16+ transitioning to Youth J/70 Squad sailors (included with YST sign-up fees)
  • Invited Mornington Yacht Club Youth sailors $150

Program Focus:

The Intermediate Fleet Program includes scheduled and regular coaching. Allowing you to practice and race in club and class association programs at clubs.

At Intermediate Fleet level you may remain active- for-life, and enjoy lifelong activity which can cross multiple disciplines, and class of boat or board. 

During the Intermediate Fleet Program, there is continued freesail opportunity to support further enjoyment in the sport and environment.
