This course is sold out.

This course is run on Friday nights in conjunction with Club Twilight racing, allowing participants to be part of the fun and social atmosphere at the club while getting a lot of time on the water.

For our new members, this course will count as 2 of your new member training programs. 

For all other members, the course cost is $720 for 7 sessions (a discount on what is typically offered). 

These sessions will be conducted in our club J/70, except for Friday, 21 November, when you'll be on board one of the Blairgowrie racing keelboats, where you'll meet other members and join their crew for the race.


Course Overview
The first step on the Keelboat pathway introduces you to the basics of sailing on a small keelboat, including boat handling, safety and sailing theory. In the combined course, you will also experience and develop the theory and practical skills to confidently take control on the helm.

Course Prerequisites

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a keelboat. Learn the basics of crewing and helming, whilst staying relatively dry! All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Crewing and Start Helming completion certificate.
