The BYS Youth OutThere Sailing Squad has been created for 12-17 year-olds who have either come through the Junior Sail Training program and want to further develop their skills, or those who want to learn a range of different on-water activities. The OutThere Sailing Squad provides a season long opportunity for youth to undertake a multitude of on-water activities, including dinghy and keelboat sailing, windsurfing, powerboating and stand-up paddle boarding. All these activities are taught by qualified Australian Sailing instructors, and utilise BYS owned equipment, so there is no need to have your own boat.

This program not only provides flexibility and a focus on what the participants want to do, it is also the perfect environment for participants to cultivate life-long friendships and a love of water sports.

The season runs from November 2021 to February 2022,  The OutThere Sailing Squad runs on the same days as our Junior Sail Training, so is a great opportunity for older siblings of our junior sailors!

Course Overview
Join in the fun and challenge as you learn the basics of racing in a dinghy.

Course Prerequisites

Water confident and you should have the skills, knowledge and experience gained from the Better Sailing course.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to learn the basics of racing and begin competing at club-level races. 

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Racing (Dinghy) completion certificate. 

 

We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
