Barossa Open 2026 Delivers Big Fields, Big Energy and Big Moments

The 2026 Barossa Open proved once again that country tournaments punch well above their weight, with 54 players across seven divisions filling the draw — and the event selling out a full week before entries closed.

This year saw the introduction of a dedicated Women’s Open division, a fantastic addition that added further depth and quality to the weekend. From Friday night through to late Saturday afternoon, the courts were buzzing with competitive, high-quality squash played in great spirit.

Players travelled from Port Pirie, Horsham, Naracoorte and even Perth, joining a strong contingent from Adelaide clubs. Across the board, competitors represented themselves and their clubs with professionalism and fair play, showcasing the best of our squash community. From Friday night through to late Saturday afternoon, the courts were buzzing with competitive, high-quality squash played in great spirit, with a total prize pool of $3,800 on offer across the divisions, complemented by a set of impressive trophies that reflected the prestige of the event.

The finals capped off a terrific weekend of matches, with some outstanding performances across all grades. A special thank you to SA referee Liam, who generously donated his time to officiate the marquee matches and mentor those new to refereeing — a contribution that added real value to the event.

Saturday night’s dinner was extremely well attended and highlighted what makes the Barossa Open special — the social side of squash. An impromptu auction added some extra theatre, with Squash SA GM and player James Rogers stepping in as auctioneer to great effect. The signed Grand Final ball and a donated Michael Corren racquet created plenty of spirited bidding.

Our bumper raffle also proved a hit, with prizes going to:

1st: Alan Blackwell (Barossa)

2nd: Michael Corren

3rd: Lachlan Duncan (Barossa)
