Annual Dinner
Published Tue 26 Aug 2025
Last night Burnie Yacht Club members and friends took the chance to enjoy a relaxed, friendly Annual Dinner and AGM. Socialising, swapping stories and finding out what everyone has being up to were on the menu. But most importantly celebrating Deb Thomson becoming a Life Member. Deb has put in a lot of effort behind the scenes with the running of the club over the years, in particular when she was Commodore. Thanks Deb from all of us. Your effort and skill have been noticed and appreciated.
Thanks to our Committee Members Russ, Bill, Kay, Deb and Dave S for continuing on the committee to support the club. Also, for outgoing Commodore Bryan and Committee Member Luciano for all your help over the last few years. Thanks also to Sue for continuing as Treasurer, Teresa for continuing as Secretary and Anton for continuing as Vice Commodore Works. We welcome John as our new Commodore and Dave P as our new Vice Commodore Sailing. We look forward to what we can create and grow as a committee and club.
The season had some beautiful days of sailing with a few challenging days thrown into the mix. Congratulations to our special award winners for the season.
Awards:
Dave Stutterd – Club person of the year
Vinny Hall – Best Rescue Boat Volunteer
Otis Hansen – 1st West Beach Cruise
Otis Hansen – Most Improved Sailor
Mike Darby – 1st Commodore’s trophy

Our aim for next season is to socialise and sail. So keep an eye out for our preseason working bee, new sailing calendar with extra social events. If you’d like to get out on the water in a dinghy or rescue boat or help out in the tower with results and times, feel free to contact the club. It’d be great for you to join our friendly group of people.
