Volunteering
Bunbury & Districts Little Athletics Club is a volunteer-run organisation, and the success of our competitions and programs relies on the support of all families.
As part of membership, the parent or guardian of each registered athlete is expected to contribute to the running of our competitions throughout the season. Based on our 2025/26 season, families could expect to volunteer approximately four times throughout the season. This is an indication only, and the actual requirement may be higher or lower depending on overall registration numbers.
Volunteer roles can include Age Group Management, starting and track support, timing, recording, event assistance, setup and pack-down, and other competition support. Some roles require additional knowledge or training, but no prior experience is necessary. Training, guidance and support will be provided.
Our Come & Try Day will also provide an opportunity for parents to see how volunteer roles work, ask questions and learn what is involved before the season begins.
You do not need to select a volunteer role when registering. Once we have a clear picture of registration numbers, families will be provided with information about available roles and competition dates and will be asked to select the roles and dates they are willing and available to undertake.
We recognise that genuine personal, family, work or health circumstances can sometimes affect a family's ability to meet the Club's volunteer requirements. Where this occurs, families are encouraged to contact the Committee to discuss their circumstances. The Club will consider requests on a case-by-case basis and, where appropriate, work with families to identify a suitable role or alternative arrangement. As a volunteer-run organisation, we ask that exemptions or adjustments only be sought where there is a genuine need, ensuring the responsibility of supporting our athletes is shared fairly across the Club community.
Families who are unable to participate in volunteering can choose the Volunteer Opt-Out Levy at the time of registration. This one-off contribution helps the Club arrange alternative coverage of volunteer positions so competitions can continue to operate effectively.
By registering your child, you acknowledge and agree to the Centre’s volunteer requirements as part of your membership.
