Club Powerboat Training
The club will be running some Powerboat Training for members this year, aimed at anyone who is planning to be involved on the water as a volunteer, safety boat driver, race management team member, club support crew, sailing school staff, etc.
The club is keen to invest in training our volunteers and staff so that everyone is confident and safe on the water, and that we are using current and appropriate rescue, safety and boat-handling techniques.
The course will cover:
RIB set up & pack down
Proper launching and retrieving techniques
Boat maintenance and basic checks
Safety procedures
Rescue techniques and procedures
RIB use and handling, including the Stessl
Other practical boat-handling and safety topics
The course will include both theory and practical sessions and will run over two Thursday evenings:

We’d particularly like to see water safety volunteers, Saturday race team members and anyone else who regularly uses the club’s RIBs or safety boats attend.
We’re looking at this training as an opportunity for the club to build up a group of people who are properly trained and approved to operate our boats and support activities on the water especially with multiple major events being held at the club this year.
