This six-week course follows on from our 2-day Adult Learn to Sail program and is perfect for sailors who have the basics covered and want to keep building skills, confidence, and experience on the water. Throughout the course, participants will gradually develop their sailing knowledge and on-water skills, working toward sailing confidently and being ready to join in club racing - if they choose. By the end of the course, participants will have a solid understanding of both sailing fundamentals and the basics of racing. From completing this course you will receive both your 'Better Sailing' and 'Start Racing' Australian sailing certificates.  

Sunday afternoons running from the 15th of  March - 26th April. 6 sessions - break for April long weekend.

 12:30pm - 4:00pm (3.5 hour sessions)

We understand locking into six sessions can be tricky. With this in mind, if you can’t make every session, don’t worry — we plan to run this course regularly, so make-up sessions can be organised. We’ll make sure each participant completes their six on-water sessions and gets there money's worth.

The course will cover:

• Rigging and tuning for different conditions
• Boat handling and manoeuvres (tacking, gybing, sail trim)
• Improved upwind and downwind sailing techniques
• Introduction to boating rules and starting sequences
• Course awareness and basic race strategy
• Safety, seamanship, and confidence sailing independently
• Plus more...

There will be opportunities to sail different types of dinghys to see what you might like to sail in the future, although most sailing will be undertaken in club pacers.
