Brisbane Table Tennis Association (BTTA) is delighted to be hosting our annual Brisbane Open tournament for 2024! We welcome you to come and compete against the very best, battling for glory on the court and some prizes to take home.

Fees: $15 for Singles events, $10 p.p. for Doubles events, $5 TTQ Tournament Levy

Prizes: 

  • Open & Women's Singles: $300 for winner, $150 for runner-up, $50 for semi finalists
  • Senior Aged Single Events: $40 equipment voucher for winner, $20 equipment voucher for runner-up*
  • Senior Aged Double Events: $20 equipment voucher for both winners, $10 equipment voucher for both runner-ups*
  • Junior Events: Trophy for winner and medal for runner-up
  • *Except for Open and Women's Singles there will be no runners-up prize in singles events if they have fewer than eight players.

ENTRY CONDITIONS:

  1. Tournament Control: The tournament will be held under TTA and ITTF rules & regulations.

  2. Match Control: Each match will be controlled by an umpire whose decision will be final on point of fact. The decision of the referee or deputy referee will be final on point of law.

  3. Affiliation: All entrants must be registered members of clubs or associations affiliated with TTQ, TTA or international equivalents.

  4. Fees: Entrants are liable for fees for all events entered, paid online through the BTTA Revolutionise Sport Portal prior to entry of the event.

  5. Levy: All entrants agree to pay the $5pp Table Tennis Queensland Tournament Levy in addition to their event fees.

  6. Entries: Entries must be made via the BTTA Revolutionise Sport Portal. Telephone or email entries will not be accepted. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the organisers.

  7. Doubles Entries: Doubles partners must be recorded, and if a partner is needed, indicate 'REQUIRED' in the space provided. Doubles partners must submit their own separate entry form.

  8. Event Format: Open Singles and Womens Singles Events will be best of 7 games in the semi-final & final, while other events will be best of 5 games. All events will be played, where feasible, as group round robins in the qualifying phase. The number of players in each group proceeding to the knockout phase will be determined by the organisers based on the amount of entries and as time permits.

  9. Event Feasibility: An event with fewer than three players or pairs may be cancelled or merged with another similar event.

  10. Timings: Event times are approximate only. Players not available to play when called up on will be liable for disqualification. Players should note event times when lodging their entry & be available at least 15 minutes prior to the advertised time slot. If unable to be present at the correct time, please notify the organisers of anticipated arrival time. However, disqualifications may still apply.

  11. Umpiring: There is an expectation for all players to umpire matches. Any player wishing to leave the centre in-between their scheduled matches on any given day of play must obtain prior approval from the Referee, Assistant Referee or Tournament Director, to confirm the player is not required for any play or umpiring during this time. Umpiring shall be conducted fairly and impartially, with active effort to implement the rules of the game.

  12. Balls: ITTF approved RADAK 3 Star white balls will be used for all matches. Therefore, competitors must not wear predominantly white or pale coloured clothing.

  13. Facility Specifications: Across 21 courts, there are 17x Stiga Expert Roller tables and 4x SAN-EI Paragon Sensor tables. Red Taraflex is laid on top of wooden flooring. Bright LEDs sit above all tables.

  14. Player Equipment: Players must use a racket consisting of a blade not prohibited by ITTF regulations, with unmodified ITTF-approved coverings, adhered with glue not prohibited by ITTF regulations. Glueing must not be undertaken on the playing courts, but shall be permitted elsewhere within the hall.

  15. Conduct: Alongside adhering to the rules and regulations, players shall engage in good sportsmanship out of respect to other players and participants in the hall. This includes apologising for nets & edges, shaking the hands of the opponent/umpire/coaches, not making excessive & frequent noise, and not intentionally damaging BTTA equipment.

  16. Age Limits: Any reference to ages means the age of a junior player as of 1st January 2024, and the age of a senior player at 31st December 2024.

  17. Para Eligibility: A player nominating for a Para event must be able to demonstrate they have at least a provisional classification as issued by TTA, or can demonstrate they are on this pathway.

  18. Seeding: All seeding & grading will be at the discretion of BTTA, using Ratings Central ratings (at the time of the close of entries) as a reference. Grading for doubles events will be based on the average rating of both players.

  19. Runner-Up Prizes: Except for Open and Women's Singles there will be no runners-up prize in singles events if they have fewer than eight players. In all doubles events, there will be no runners-up prize in any event that has fewer than six pairs.

  20. Allowed Entry Times: Entrants are only allowed to enter 1 event with simultaneous starting times.

  21. Social Media: You agree to any photos or video captured during the tournament to be used by BTTA for advertising and promotional purposes. You can request to opt-out by contacting BTTA.

  22. Defined Terms: In these Event Conditions: ‘BTTA’ means Brisbane Table Tennis Association Incorporated, and where the context permits, includes its respective administrators, directors, agents, officers, officials, committee members, volunteers, employees, other participants, and any sponsors.

  23. Participating at Own Risk: You understand the nature of table tennis activities and are aware that participating in this sport contains risks. These risks may be caused by you and/or your minor child's own actions or inaction, or the actions or inaction of others. There may also be other risks and social and economic losses either not known to you or not readily foreseeable and you fully accept and assume all such risks and all responsibility for losses, costs and damages you incur as a result of your participation in the sport and this tournament. In consideration of BTTA's acceptance of your nomination to participate in this tournament, you willingly assume all risks including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other members, injuries and illnesses. You further waive and release BTTA from all claims (including future claims), demands. losses, damages and liabilities of any kind known or unknown, arising out of your use of and participation in the sport and this tournament and the facilities contained in the BTTA premises.
