Briars Men's Hockey 2021 Season
Briars will field 7 mens teams in the Sydney Hockey Competition, with a team to suit everyone professionals to beginners.
Premier League - PL1, PL2, PL3
Sydney League - SL1, SL2, SL5, SL6
Training:
All grade teams train on Wednesday nights at Cintra Hockey Field (St Lukes Park) - MAP
7:00 - 8:00 - 5th & 6th grade
7:30 - 8:30 - 3rd & 4th grade
8:30 - 9:00 - 3rd grade
8:00 - 10:00 - 1st & 2nd grade
Matches:
PL games are played on Saturday, and SL games can be on Saturday or Sunday, game times range from 10:30am - 8:00pm. The fields we play at include Cintra (Concord), Pennant Hills, Ryde, Olympic Park, Bankstown, Moorebank, Daceyville, Kyeemagh, Sutherland, Greenhills. Which fields you play at will vary depending on the grade you play in. Games are 4 x 17 minute quarters with a 10-min warm up, 2-min quarter time breaks and and a 5-min half time which makes the whole game 90min.

How to get started with Briars in a Grade team:
The best way to start is to come down to men's training on Thursday night at either 7:00pm for the lower grades or 8:00pm for the higher grades, join in the session and see how you go. There is no need to committ or register prior to attending training, and you are welcome to just give training a go for a few weeks to see if hockey and our club works for you. We would like to welcome and meet you on your first session so please email Corry Allsop our Men's Vice President to let him know when you will be attending.

Equipment:
To play hockey you will need shin guards, a hockey stick, and a mouthguard. If you are not sure whether you want to committ to playing you are welcome to borrow a hockey stick from the club storeroom for training and trials until you are ready to purchase your own. Our recommended providor for all equipment is Just Hockey at Olympic Park (website link below).
