Bang…Ting….Repeat!!

Welcome to B.P.R.C

At Buchan Precision Rifle Club (B.P.R.C.), everyone is welcome at our beautiful range.

We’re a community of shooting enthusiasts who love precision, skill, and a good laugh along the way. Whether you’re brand new or experienced, you’ll find support, encouragement, and plenty of opportunities to learn. Safety, responsible shooting, and a family-friendly atmosphere are at the heart of what we do — plus a healthy dose of Buchan shenanigans.

Our Club & Community

Founded in 2022 by Matt Bishop and Andrew Lind (Gun Sport Trading), B.P.R.C. was created to bring world-class precision rifle competitions closer to home.

We’re a family-friendly club that’s all about:

  • Safe, responsible shooting

  • Learning and improving skills

  • Helping others grow in the sport

  • Having fun while doing it

The PRS community is built on teamwork — you’ll always find someone willing to lend a hand, share knowledge, or help you become a better shooter.

About the Range

Our range offers everything you need for a great day out:

  • 12 shooting lanes with concrete benches

  • Targets from 25m to 500m, suitable for all calibers (within limits)

  • Amenities: toilets, running water, picnic area & shelter

  • Conveniently located on Bruthen–Buchan Road, 18km from the Buchan Caves turn-off on Bruthen–Nowa Nowa Road

What is PRS?

Precision Rifle Series (PRS) is the fastest-growing shooting sport worldwide. Why? Because it’s:

  • Challenging and dynamic – no two stages are the same

  • Community-driven – shooters help each other learn and improve

  • Skill-focused – techniques apply to hunting, other shooting sports, and even non-shooting disciplines

A typical club match:

  • Starts with a safety briefing

  • Runs 6–8 stages

  • Each stage: 60–120 seconds, engaging 6–12 targets (usually 250–500m) from stable and less stable positions

  • Scoring: mostly hits on target, sometimes with time as a factor

Gear & Equipment

Don’t stress about gear — just bring what you have and start shooting.

At a basic level, you’ll need:

  • Rifle with a detachable magazine

  • Bipod

  • Scope that dials

  • Rear bag

Extra gear like tripods, slings, and positional bags can help, but aren’t needed to start. Members are happy to lend gear so you can try before you buy.

Match limits:

  • .30 caliber maximum

  • 3200 fps velocity limit

Most competitors use .223, 6mm, or 6.5mm calibers for lower recoil and faster follow-ups.

We recommend downloading a ballistic calculator app before the match. Good options: Applied Ballistics, Strelok Pro, Ballistics AE. Don’t worry if it looks tricky — we’ll help you out on the day.

How to Get Started

The best way to get involved is simple:

  1. Come and watch a match – see how it runs.

  2. Help out by spotting or scoring – a great way to learn without pressure.

  3. Shoot a match – use the gear you already have, don’t worry about scores. You’ll leave with a clear idea of what works for you.

You do not need to be a member to shoot your first match or to lend a hand.
