Hi Bluefins,

its already September and Spring! Hope everyone's enjoying the lovely weather we're having this week.

Membership

• For those 2019/20 members who have yet to renew their membership, please do so here https://www.revolutionise.com.au/bluefinsdbc/registration/
• Due to COVID, DBNSW has tightened their insurance provisions, which means returning members must renew their membership for the new season before they can get on the Dragon Boat. Past season members do not get the 5 free sessions. 
• Those who have already renewed, Welcome back! I’m looking forward to seeing you all back on the water soon.

Regattas

• Dragon Boat - The first regatta of the season is coming up soon on the 12th September. DBNSW is trialing something different; a 2km turns format race. Covid19 distancing will be enforced so it will be a good way to paddle around a different lake of Penrith with minimal mixing between teams. Team registrations close this Friday, 4th September, so get in quick. RSVP to the regatta on Team App.
• Outrigger - the first AOCRA regatta of the season is on the 18th of October, hosted by Pacific Dragons, most likely at La Perouse.  OC1, V1 and OC6 Racing in Ultra Short (6km), Short(8km/12km) and Long (18 or 24km) distances in Mens, Womens and Mixed Categories all to be confirmed. We will be taking our newly refurbished OC6s on our trailer to the event. RSVP to the event on Team App.

New Club Equipment

Thanks to the work of Brian and the 2019/20 committee, BlueFins was awarded a Local Sport Grant Program grant from the NSW Office of Sport. We have used the grant to purchase the stroke rate counter in use by the coaches and will be buying the following items

• New Wooden Dragon Boat Paddles - to replace our existing old and damaged ones
• Floating Marker Bouys - to mark out 200m or 500m so we can train for distances.
• Vaikobi Paddle Bag - paddle bag thats made specifically for paddles! 
• Vaikobi Vdry water proof jackets - the grant will subsidise the cost of more team jackets so we can still offer them to members at $99 each. Please place your orders in the team store so we know how many sizes to order. Place your orders by 18th September 2020.

• I recommend their paddling shorts, and the life vests. This discount cannot be used with the Bluefins Team Jerseys as they are a custom item.

Upcoming Committee Meeting
